Santa Claus School
For 90 years, the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School has been the world's oldest and most respected school for Santa Clauses — shaping the tradition, craft, and spirit of Christmas.
A Legacy Nine Decades in the Making
Founded in 1937 by Charles W. Howard in Albion, New York, the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School is the oldest Santa Claus school in the world. Charles Howard was himself a legendary Santa — a man who believed deeply that portraying Santa Claus was a calling, not merely a role, and that those who took on the mantle deserved proper training and community.
From its earliest classes in Albion, the school grew into an institution that has trained thousands of Santas and Mrs. Clauses from across the United States and around the world. Alumni have gone on to appear in films, television productions, department stores, hospitals, and communities large and small — carrying the spirit of Christmas wherever they go.
The school has called several Western New York locations home over its nine decades, always remaining rooted in the communities of Albion and Lockport. Today it continues the tradition Charles Howard began: rigorous, joyful, and deeply meaningful training for those who dedicate themselves to the art of being Santa.

The 90th Anniversary
In August 2027, we gather to mark nine decades of this extraordinary institution. The 90th Anniversary Celebration will bring together alumni, current students, and friends of the school from across the country for three days of fellowship, reflection, and celebration in Albion and Lockport, NY — the communities that have been home to the school throughout its history.
